Step aside five-to-seven-passenger SUVs, Kia has made big improvements to the newest 2016 Sorento. It’s now bigger and better exuding a nice blend of sophistication throughout. Here’s a closer look at the 2016 Sorento inside and out.
With its full redesign, the DNA of the 2016 Sorento makes it one of the most popular contenders of its class. Its overall structure has been strengthened and its suspension and steering have been improved, as well, which gives the Sorento a more comfortable and refined driving experience. Under the hood is a newly added turbocharged four-cylinder engine that offers a middle of the road choice for those that want more power than the typical four-cylinder, but not as much as that found in a V6. Based on the engine found under the hood depends on the tow rate available to the Sorento. Luckily, all engines offer solid tow rates for an SUV, ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 pounds.
Step inside the 2016 Sorento and you’ll quickly see how it exudes sophistication with top trims that can be deemed as luxurious. Surfaces are soft touch and richly textured and the two-tone color schemes available nicely accentuate the Sorento’s quality materials. The overall design is genuinely appealing, featuring user-friendly controls and simple electronics interfaces with large buttons and clear graphics.
Space in the 2016 Sorento is worthy of applauds with its increase in second-row legroom and the ability to slide, recline and fold flat. Cargo capacity has also grown with 11 cubic feet behind the third row, 38.8 cubic feet behind the second row, and a better-than-average maximum capacity of 73.5 cubic feet when second-row seats are folded.
The Sorento is available in five and seven-passenger configurations paired to five alluring trim levels that feature everything from basics like air conditioning and cruise control to top perks like leather upholstery and ventilated and heated seats.
Starting out the 2016 lineup is the base L that rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. It includes LED running lights, three-mode drive setting, stain-resistant fabric and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Electronics are made up of Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, CD player, satellite radio, auxiliary audio jack and USB iPod interface.
The LX gains some nice perks, such as automatic headlights, sound-reducing windshield and roof rails. It also gets a rearview camera, Uvo eServices, 4.3-inch touchscreen interface and two rapid-charge USB ports.
Opting for the EX means larger 18-inch wheels, sound-reducing front side glass, dual-zone automatic climate control, and leather upholstery. It also comes with the option of a Premium package and Touring package, which features content like a hands-free power lift gate, keyless ignition and entry, panoramic sunroof, eight-inch touchscreen interface and navigation system, plus 10-speaker sound system.
The SX equips the Sorento with even more, like upgraded steering, 19-inch wheels, LED taillights, driver memory settings, and auto-dimming rearview mirror.
For top quality and features, the SX Limited adds chrome-clad wheels and upgraded leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and heated second-row seats.
