New Kia Sportage

The 2016 Kia Sportage will provide you with a lot of things. A powerful, turbocharged engine, quick and responsive steering, lots of features, and overall a truly fun time behind the wheel. But like most SUVs, fuel economy isn't nearly as good as that in smaller cars. Luckily, there are some things you can do to improve your fuel economy. Here's how.

Drive the Speed Limit: Being a speed demon may get you places faster – sometimes – but it can also cause a big decrease in fuel economy. Driving over 55 mph will burn through gas much more quickly. One reason for this is that aerodynamic drag greatly increases the faster you drive because it takes more fuel to power your car through the air. It may require more patience to drive slower, but obeying the speed limit is better on fuel economy, and much much safer.

Avoid Aggressive Driving: Did you know that how you drive affects fuel economy? For instance, if you are an aggressive driver, your fuel economy will decrease. In fact, frequent bursts of acceleration and braking can reduce fuel economy by two to three mpg. To avoid this drop in fuel economy, opt for maintaining a steady pace when on the highway.

Reduce Unnecessary Drag: When driving at fast highway speeds, 50 percent of engine power goes to overcoming aerodynamic drag. To avoid this, don't carry cargo on top of your vehicle when not necessary. This even includes bike racks, which can reduce fuel economy by five mpg when empty and up to 35 percent when equipped with bikes.

Clean Out Your Car: Take a look at your car's interior. Now look in the trunk. Are you toting anything around that you don't truly need? Hauling extra weight around in your car is an easy way to burn gas more quickly. This is especially true for items over 100 pounds. If you can clean out your car and remove heavy items, go for it! You'll definitely be rewarded in improved fuel economy.

Avoid Excessive A/C Use: As summer gets hotter and hotter, it's easy to get carried away with the air conditioner. It's understandable. After all, nobody likes to be uncomfortably hot and sweaty. Unfortunately, excessive A/C use in summer will quickly lower fuel economy. Try only using the A/C when truly needed and also don't have the temperature lower than necessary.

Kia K900

There are tons of great luxury sedans on the market. One, for instance, is the 2016 Kia K900 – a full-size sedan that pleases the senses with its luxury interior, ample space, and smooth, quiet demeanor. But, just because you opt for a new luxury sedan, that doesn't mean you'll never run into problems every now and then. One problem you may experience at some point is a dead battery. To be prepared, all you need is a set of jumper cables, a willing person who will give your car a jump, and this handy step-by-step guide.

1. Park your car and a booster car close enough together so that your jumper cables can reach from one car's battery to the other car's batter. Then turn off both cars (this includes headlights, radios, etc.).

2. Open the hood of both cars. Then locate each battery and its terminals.

3. Clamp one of the positive (red) jumper cable ends to the dead battery's positive battery terminal. Be sure it is clamped on tightly. (Keep the negative (black) cable clamp away from any metal surfaces.)

4. Clamp the other end of the positive (red) jumper cable to the positive battery terminal in the booster car.

5. Once the positive cables are attached, first connect the negative cable end to the negative terminal in the booster car. Then connect the remaining negative cable to an unpainted metal surface on the engine of the car with the dead battery. This provides a solid ground while reducing the risk of sparks.

6. Start the booster car and let it idle for several minutes. This will build up a sufficient charge to start the dead car's battery.

7. Start the vehicle with the dead battery, then let both vehicles idle together for a few minutes.

8. Once the jump-started vehicle is running smoothly, carefully disconnect the jumper cables. This should be done in reverse order. This means you will remove the negative (black) cable from the formerly dead battery first. Be sure to hold cables away from any metal or other cable ends while you disconnect the rest of the cables.

9. Be sure to drive the jump-started car for at least 20 minutes so the alternator has time to recharge the battery.

New Kia Sorento

If you love the Kia Sorento, the newest 2016 model will make you fall in love all over again. Why? Because it's bigger and better, which makes it an excellent choice for a five- to seven-passenger SUV. But to ensure the Sorento keeps on rockin', there are many maintenance services you need to stop on top of. One is tire pressure. Here's a closer look at what it is and why it's so important.

What is tire pressure?

Tire pressure is a measurement of the amount of air in a vehicle's tires in pounds per square inch (psi). Checking the pressure in your car's tires should be done at least once a month if not more. To check tire pressure, a tire pressure gauge is used.

Why is tire pressure important?

Ensuring all of your tires have the correct pressure is crucial to on-road safety. In fact, tire pressure comes in just behind the brakes as the most important safety device your car has. Tires that do not have the correct pressure will suffer from problems, such as compromised cornering, braking and stability. It will also negatively affect your comfort level, fuel economy and the lifespan of your tires. Improper tire pressure can also lead to tire failure – and serious accidents.

What happens if tire pressure is too high?

Tires with too much pressure (too much air) suffer many problems. A tire with pressure that is too high is not able to grip the road adequately because less of the tire is able to touch the ground. Less contact with the road means poor traction and the risk of your tires slipping along the road. This is especially dangerous when stopping and in wet conditions.

When tire pressure is too high, it also causes your car to bounce along the road, which will decrease comfort for all on board.

What happens if tire pressure is too low?

When tire pressure is too low (too little air), too much of the tire's surface area touches the ground, creating friction between the road and the tire. This friction causes your tires to wear out more quickly. It can also cause your tires to overheat. If this happens, tire treads begin to separate, which leads to dangerous situations. Low tire pressure can also cause fuel economy to drop, which will cause you to spend more time and money at the pump.

To tell if your tires have low pressure, listen out for squealing sounds around corners.

Other Must-Knows

Here are a few more things to remember.

  1. Regularly check all four tires. Just because two or three of your tires have the correct pressure, this doesn't mean the rest of your tires will.

  2. Regularly check your spare tire. Having a flat tire is always a downer. But, having a flat tire and a flat spare … well that can be devastating. So always check your spare just in case.

New Kia Soul

Maybe you own the newest 2016 Kia Soul even an older model like the 2012. Either way, there will come a time when your Soul requires maintenance. If you're looking for some cheap and easy maintenance services you can do yourself, you're in luck. Continue reading to learn more.

Air Filter

Air filters are used to supply your car's engine with a clean and continuous flow of air. If your air filter becomes dirty and clogged, your engine will become starved of oxygen and will overheat. Changing the air filter is a simple task and will only take around 10 minutes.

  1. First, pop open your car's hood and located the air filter. (It is typically inside a black case with metal clips on each side.)

  2. Open the case and inspect how the old filter sits inside (take a picture if you have to). Remembering how the air filter is installed will make it easier to put the new air filter in.

  3. Remove the old filter. Be sure no dirt and debris fall from it and land inside the bottom of the filter box.

  4. Install the new filter then close the case and secure it in place.

Windshield Wipers

Another simple maintenance task is replacing your car's windshield wipers. Windshield wipers are crucial to visibility, so don't wait until your wipers no longer work well to replace them. To change your windshield wipers all you'll need is a handful of minutes.

  1. First, choose a wiper blade to start with (either will do). Then being by pulling the wiper away from the windshield.

  2. Press the small tab on the underside of the wiper in order to slide the wiper off the wiper arm.

  3. Next, line up the new wiper with the wiper arm, then lower it onto the arm. Be sure the open end of the hook on the arm is facing the plastic clip on the wiper. Then pull it tightly so it clicks into place.

  4. Lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.

  5. Repeat with the remaining wiper blade.
