Kia Sportage

The Sportage stands as one of Kia’s most fun-to-drive crossover SUVs and one of the most entertaining to drive on the market. It’s eye-catching styling, great content list, and top crash test scores aren’t too shabby either. Here are a few reasons why the 2016 Kia Sportage is an excellent choice.

Sports Appeal: The Sportage is true to its name, boasting generous sports appeal that shows via its suspension tuning that’s responsive and lively. There are two engines available to the 2016: a 2.4-liter and 2.0-liter. Both come paired with a six-speed automatic. The 2.0-liter, found on the SX model is definitely the optimal choice due to its turbocharged power that delivers quick acceleration and generates 260 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. While front-wheel drive is standard for the Sportage, all-wheel drive is also up for grabs.

The 2016 Sportage SX model is by far the sportiest of them all due to its upbeat content and turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. The SX sports 18-inch wheels, unique front grille, dual exhaust outlets, aluminum scuff plates, LED daytime running lights and taillights, plus a panoramic sunroof.

Features: There are many features found in the 2016 Sportage ranging from sound systems and interfaces to safety perks and upscale niceties.

Standard on the entry-level Sportage LX is a six-speaker sound system with CD player, satellite radio, auxiliary audio input jack, and USB port. There is also several bonus options with the optional Popular package, which equips the Sportage with a trip computer, 4.3-inch touchscreen audio system, and rearview camera.

Moving up the 2016 Sportage lineup to the EX, you’ll find even more worthwhile features, like keyless entry an ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and Kia’s own Uvo telematics system. Add the optional EX Premium package for extras, like fog lights, heated power-folding mirrors, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and cooled glovebox. Electronic features get great upgrades with a seven-inch touchscreen display with voice controls, navigation system, and HD radio.

Safety: For safety in equipment and numbers, you’ll find it in the 2016 Sportage. Standard on all models is traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints.

The Kia Uvo telematics system, which was briefly mentioned before is a must-have feature. It includes emergency and roadside assistance and stolen-vehicle tracking, plus geofencing and speed tracking, which allows parents to set limits for teen drivers.

The all-wheel Sportage hit top marks in government crash testing in all areas, including: overall protection, frontal-impact protection and side-impact protection. The front-wheel drive Sportage didn’t receive as high of marks, but still proves impressive with four-out-of-five stars in overall protection and a full five stars in both frontal and side impact protection.

Kia Sorento

2016 marks a complete redesign for the Kia Sorento - and it’s now bigger, bolder, and better. There are plenty of options to choose from in the midsize SUV category, but there are many reasons the 2016 Sorento may just be your best match. Here are a few reasons why.

1. Safety. Whether you need to tote five, or even seven, passengers, you can’t get much safer than the 2016 Kia Sorento. In terms of equipment, features, and crash test scores, well, it’s all good! Every 2016 Kia Sorento is equipped with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front side airbags, and front- and second-row curtain airbags. Depending on the Sorento model chosen, there is the option of some great safety features, from a rearview camera and rear parking sensors to blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems. You can even tack on the Uvo eServices system, which allows you to set certain restrictions on secondary drivers, such as speed and curfew alerts.

The top five-star rating given to the 2016 Sorento in government crash tests also proves just how safe this SUV truly is. This highest-possible score covers testing in areas, such as: overall crash protection and total frontal and total side-impact protection.

2. Interior. I you take a peek inside the 2016 Sorento, you’ll find mostly soft-touch and richly-textured surfaces - a quality that exudes a premium look an feel. The most notable interior gains are those just added to the 2016 lineup. The second-row gains extra legroom and seats are acceptable of sliding and reclining - all wins in the comfort category. If you need more than the standard five-passenger seating configuration allows for, it’s no problem! Just opt for the seven-passenger seating configuration and you’re all set. Note, however, that third-row seats are best suited for children or small adults.

3. Cargo Capacity. Cargo space is always a worthwhile quality to evoke - that’s also probably one of the reasons consumers want an SUV, whether compact or other. Behind the third-row seats, cargo capacity measures 11 cubic feet, stretching to 38.8 cubes behind second-row seats. Fold rear seats down for a huge maximum capacity of 73.5 cubic feet - a number that stands larger than most five-passenger midsize SUVs.
