The smallest of the two engine options is a 2.4-liter inline-four cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The larger 3.3-liter V6 engine is capable of producing 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. The inline-four engine layout is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission while the V6 engine is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2019 Kia Sorento is able to seat seven people by offering three separate rows of seating. While customers can opt for optional leather upholstery or Nappa leather upholstery, the 2019 Sorento features standard cloth upholstery that is stain-resistant. Heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats can also be included as additional options in the new Sorento.
Owners of the 2019 Kia Sorento have access to 11.3 cubic-feet of cargo space with all of the seats up. Cargo space is increased to 38 cubic-feet and 73 cubic-feet with the third and second -row of seats folded down respectively. Various crevices are included for passengers to store their small items.
The 2019 Kia Sorento is home to a UVO infotainment system that can be accessed through a 7-inch touchscreen display. The sound of the infotainment system plays through a standard six-speaker audio system but a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system is available as an option. Devices can connect to the Sorento's UVO infotainment system through USB ports, Apple CarPlay, or Android Auto.

The 2019 Kia Sorento achieved all-around good ratings on the crash safety tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2019 Sorento an overall five-star rating in their crash safety examination.
In addition to safety features such as a 4-wheel anti-lock brake system, the 2019 Kia Sorento houses many standard active safety features. Front and rear parking sensors are included standard on all trims while a suite of other advanced safety features are included in upper-level Sorento trims. Driver drowsiness monitoring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring can be found on all models among a variety of additional pieces of safety technology. Drivers can monitor their surroundings through a standard surround-view camera.
